414. Mystery Blogger Award

414. Mystery Blogger Award

I have been putting this off for a while since I haven’t been feeling very well in my head lately.  To the best of my knowledge I was nominate for three of these.  If I missed you, please let me know.  I haven’t been keeping up with blogs as well lately.

I’m honestly feeling too lazy to want to completely play by the rules, but I will abide by as many as I can.

Mystery Blogger Award was created by: Okoto Enigma

Thank you for the nominations.

I was nominated by:

Naughty Nora

Buried Deep and Dark

Miss Violet Grey

Three things about myself:

  1. I am lactose intolerant.  This may only be important if you are one of those “cheese is the greatest food on Earth” people.  I didn’t learn about the existence of lactose intolerance until I was 13 years old.  You would be surprised at how difficult it was in the 1980’s having no one acknowledge that there should be meal alternatives because “making you sick from eating it” is not the same as “allergic to.”
  2. I am a cat person.  While I like animals in general, I vibe with cats more than dogs.  Being attacked by a dog and sent to the hospital after a friend’s dog ripped apart my thigh, hip, and ass cheek when I was young probably has a lot to do with this.
  3. When I cook bacon I flip it at least 7 times.  To me, perfect bacon is crispy without being dry, and has no nasty gummy parts.  Achieving this requires many bacon flips to ensure that every single part of the strip gets crisped.  Some people think that bacon is bacon.  They haven’t had bacon that has been cooked by me.

Nora’s Questions:

What would you say is your most endearing quality?

I think it would have to be my ability to say something super offensive and really funny at the same time.  It’s quite satisfying to make someone crack up so hard they spit their drink but also feel the need to clarify how awful they feel for laughing that hard half a dozen times.  I don’t let my sense of humor hang out that much on my blog, although if you read fs02, I definitely injected it there.

What is something about yourself you’d like to change/improve?

Ugh… I have so many flaws, how do I pick just one?  Throwing a dart with my eyes closed comes to… letting fear of failure deter me from trying to succeed in certain areas of my life.  I’ve never felt okay to fail so when I do fail (which isn’t very often), it completely decimates my confidence and sense of self.  I would love to be able to take risks that would better my life without talking myself out of it for fear of being crushed.

If your house was burning down and you only had time to grab one material possession (let’s assume your entire family & pets are already safely out), what would you save?

I would probably rip my hard drive from my PC.  I should probably make a dozen redundant copies of what I have created over the years but as of this time, that is the only place where my poetry, writings, drawings, and the like reside.

What is something that makes you feel nostalgic?

It used to be Gary Coleman.  He’s dead now, but it seemed for years that while we all changed and the world changed around us that he stayed the same.  I have a number of fond childhood memories of watching Diff’rent Strokes and a well-timed “Whatchutalkinabout Willis?” is still funny.

Favorite dessert?

I am not a big desert guy.  My body produces enough lactase to be able to handle one or two bowls of ice cream a week.  My favorite desert is actually vanilla ice cream with rice crispies.  Like, put some rice crispies in the bowl, put down a couple of scoops, then cover the top in rice crispies and fill in the gaps.  It’s seriously good.

More traditional desert would probably be apple pie.

Buried Deep and Dark’s Questions:

What is a favorite song of yours you would feel most embarrassed about accidentally playing in public?

This is a tough one to answer because I’m actually proud that all of my favorite songs are fucking awesome.  Trying to remain with the spirit of the question… I suppose there are situations where songs might seem inappropriate.  The closest I can think of…

Saetia – Ariadne’s Thread.  This isn’t quite what most people are expecting when you describe it as an ultimately tragic love song.

Tullycraft – Rumble With the Gang Debs.  If this one is the first thing that pops up on shuffle/random it’s hard to convince people that you normally listen to things that are quite a bit heavier.

Owen – Ugly on the Inside.  This is rough one because it’s such an absolutely beautiful song and one that you want to share with everyone you know.  The problem is the lyrics are incredibly cruel so you have to be careful who you send it to or they might be like, “so what are you saying?” and lead to all kinds of good awkwardness.

If you could relocate anywhere in the world, where would you go?

When I was younger I always planned to move to some country that had socialized healthcare and more liberal domestic policy.  Now it is not about where I am but about who I am with.  The right place for me is with the one I love, no matter where that would be.  If I had to choose a location, I like the pacific NW.

If you could go back to when you first started blogging, what would you do differently?

I would have chosen a generic Femdom blog title and blogger identity out of the gate.

I’m stealing one from the list I’m supposed to answer because I’m curious. What’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to you?

I fell in love.  That experience alone convinced me beyond a doubt that life was worth living.

What movie have you rewatched the most? Not necessarily your favorite, just the one you’ve kept going back to for whatever reason.

Well, I stopped re-watching movies quite as much as I’ve gotten older but I have probably seen Clerks at least 150 times and can go almost word for word with it.

Violet Grey’s Questions:

If you could travel back to any point in time, what era would you choose and why?

Would I have to worry about causing irreparable damage to the space time continuum if I created a paradox that would thunder through the ages and cause the matter in my body explode with the energy of the big bang?

If no, the mid 1990’s.  That was the one time in my life where the world seemed to work in harmony with my beliefs.

What would you say has been your biggest achievement(s) in your life so far?

Well, this one sort of bums me out considering that all of those achievements happened a minimum of 10 years ago.  That is, achievements by other people’s standards.  I do have quite a few of those but very few of them hold any deep meaning to me.

On a personal level, my greatest achievement was to learn to live with and manage my depression without getting dragged into it and having to weather a shit storm of negative emotions.

With what you know now, what would you say to your 18-year-old self?

Buy a house early.  Don’t take that first job out of college.  Life will get better.

Imagine you weren’t in your current job. What would be your most/least favourite job to have?

I honestly don’t know.  When my fiance died I just sort of let any and all ambitions crumble and I never really got back on track on this front.

Name a favourite book and why it is a favourite.

Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse.  I read this at 17.  It was the first book I had read that really made me think.  Up until that point I don’t think I had ever challenged my brain to look beyond what it needed to do and thought about what it could do.

I am feeling far too unmotivated to come up with questions and nominations.

  1. I had the same experience with a dog when I was about 7. I saw him coming, turned around to run, stumbled and he grabbed me from behind and shook me like a rag doll. I spent weeks in the hospital. I’m not that afraid of dogs (except mean German Shepherds) but am definitely a cat person.
